Horehronie lies in the territories of the most beautiful national natural parks in Slovakia. These are the Low Tatras, “Muránska planina” (Muráň plain) as well as protected natural reserves Poľana and Slovak Ore Mountains. Educative nature trails like the one in the Open air museum of Forestry in Vydrovo, “Tracing the bears”, the Nature path of Samo Chalupka (note of the interpreter: a Slovak writer, who significantly contributed to enactment of Slovak language), the path after footprints of outlaw Jakuk Surovec, Prdimucha’s path telling a story of the single Slovak vampire in Horná Lehota or the educative nature path leading to Muráň castle, climbing park in Tále and horse riding along Hucul arterial road are dedicated to families with children as well as to passionate explorers. Rewarding refreshment during the hottest days is available in unique caves.
