Golf Tale

Golf Tále

The Gray Bear Golf Course was the very first 18-hole championship golf course in Slovakia. It is situated in a wonderful environment of the National Park Low Tatras in a recreational centre in Tále. Legendary professional golf player and the captain of Ryder Cup, Tony Jacklin, was there in 2002 to cut the tape for launch of the golf course. He addressed it the following words: “I appreciate (the course) for its unique and beautiful nature sceneries, originality of the environment and design.”

The scenery of a mountain valley is rich in natural beauties. It is dominated by stream beds, rocky boulders, majestic firs and spruces. The design of the 6 296 m long course is well arranged and all the holes are correct despite the fact that their difficulty requires player’s modesty and accurate game with irons. Par for the course is 71.

The Gray Bear is a golf course, where players move by walking. The distances between tees and greens copying the terrain are short. The traditionally hard surfaces are covered with a mixture of fescue, that is a copy of grass types to be found on courses of the British Open in Scotland.

The golf course Gray Bear proved its professional standard during the most prestigious golf tournaments in Slovakia: the European Championship of seniors in the category Masters, EGA Challenge Trophy Boys in July and August 2006 and Allianz Ladies Slovak Open from the series Ladies European Tour in years 2010 – 2014.

Little Bear

In a newly launched 9-holes golf academy can the beginners try playing golf under the keen eye of experienced couches and learn about golf in suitable conditions. At the same time, advanced golf players can improve their short game. An interesting feature of the course is the possibility to play in both direction – in reverse direction, too. This concept is firs time applied and so far unique in Slovakia.

It is designed as a half-course with half-size dropping zone for improvement of the short game. Another constituents of the Little Bear are training areas: chipping and putting green. If interested in the game, a neo-golf-player first accomplishes an instruction with a couch taking place in training areas. Then he is ready to play in the 9-holes course under supervision of the coach. The longest hole is 269 m long, par 5. The game in the Little Bear is accessible for disabilities. Players can enjoy the game individually with the basic HCP 54 and lower.
