Cycle hand-cars Hronec – Šánske – Čierny Balog
An adventurous ride by unique cycle paths from the metallurgical village of Hronec with the first cast iron bridge in Hungary to Šánske and Čierny Balog. The route leads along the narrow-gauge forest railway line of the Čiernohronská Railway through the karst area. The meanders of the Hronec Valley (“Hrončianska dolina”) flow by its side. There is a possibility of changing to the Čiernohronská Railway train during the main summer season or having a picnic in the enchanting nature at the Šánske stop. Beyond summer holidays the cycle hand-car track and regular cycle tracks are accessible from Hronec to Čierny Balog (10 km) or from Čierny Balog to a district of the village - Dobroč (2 km) with the Pustý hill (“Pustý vrch”) lookout tower.
The narrow-gauge Horehronie hand-car is made for gauges 760 mm wide. The optimal capacity is 3 adults and 1 child not taller than 150 cm. There must be 2 adults sitting in front. At least one of them must be of legal age. The seat in the back is dedicated to an adult, while the one in front is supposed to carry a child. Each seat is equipped with a seat belt.
