“Pustý vrch” lookout tower

Enjoy a pleasant walk or cycling in a quiet place and cheer up the views from the wooden lookout tower on “Pustý vrch”, from which you can enjoy views of intact nature in the embrace of “Veporské vrchy”. The wooden 11 m high lookout tower is located on the top of the eponymous “Pustý vrch” above parts of the villages of Komov and Pusté, on the route of the Čiernohronská railway from Čierny Balog to Dobroč.

There are 6 routes leading to the lookout tower. They are marked by guideposts in the village. The views from the lookout tower can also be enjoyed by cyclists, who get to the lookout tower using the route from Komov - Látky. The lookout tower has two viewpoints at a height of 3 and 6 metres, from which you get to see views of the wide-spread village of Čierny Balog and the surrounding peacefully breathing nature. Not far from the lookout tower is a rock, where generations of locals used to play games. This place was very close to the heart of the Slovak novelist Ladislav Ťažký, who was born and raised under “Pustý vrch near” Komov and for whom the rock on “Pustý vrch” was the "rock of childhood".
